Just the brief look at the game confirmed that Naughty Dog have kept the cavalier devil may care feel of the first game. Nathan Drake is still a smart mouthed rogue who generally gets whats coming to him whilst also still finding a way out of the mess he’s in. This time though the co-op mode with your two buddies: Sully and ex- girlfriend Chloe work with you and separate from you to fight for you or save you if you’ve not covered up enough and got shot.

Before I even mention the combat or the exploration, the detailed environments make your jaw drop. The first game’s lush jungles have given away to highly-detailed Central American and Asian cities. The graphical textures making up the ancient civilisations etc are a Naughty Dog speciality. They do atmosphere better than most.

Combat wise the gunplay is pretty straight forward in that you shoot at those that shoot at you. You can do this under cover similar to Gears of War or Killzone 2 cover systems. It appears that like those two games Uncharted 2 : Among Thieves is a lot more subtle than the average 3^rd person stand and deliver shooter. If you stand and deliver you stop bullets and bleed and die…

Without boring you or spoiling it for you the multiplayer has pretty raw and simplistic death match modes that involve lots of gun play. And allow me one word of advice; position for the kill is a key so think vertical and horizontal transverse.

With the brief look what do I think…? Let me say this and I’m not allowed to say a lot but Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will consume you if you let it. Let’s hope the glimpse I got is consistent across the single player campaign, if it is Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is a contender for any award you can think of.
